OffBeatr and New Demo

OffBeatr : http://offbeatr.com/project/mogi-origins-ero-platformer-12701231334

If you haven't heard of OffBeatr it's a crowdfunding site for adult games.  Yes, we are going to try and crowdfund this game, and we know it's a difficult undertaking but we ask for your support.  This game has taken quite a financial toll on us so any help would be appreciated.

The New Demo:
  • Hardware - Main Download
  • Software - If you're having trouble running the game.
In this new demo, we've taken everyone's statements to heart and have made a considerable amount of modifications.

So What's New?
  • Creampie Animation!
  • SaveSystem
  • New AI
  • Faster Attacking
  • Small text changes to make the game easier to understand
We hope you enjoy the game!

  1. The new animation is great and I like the faster attack. It makes it so I don't have to bait the girls into attacking first and speeds up the pace of the game (in a good way).

  2. Awesome Update. New animation is awesome.
Went to offbeatr and voted on ur project, hope it gets enough votes cause I'll definitely promise $20.00 or + (depending on how fast the updates are and overall donations).
    Feedback:
    1) The pictures collected are a bit pixelated when clicked on from gallery.
    2) Depending on attempts of breaking grapple, the animation speeds up and intensifies to stay in line with the faster marker movement
    3) Player could start grapple with different animation depending on some resource factor
    4) Boss fights and/or double monstergirl scene when multiple ones are in the same area
    5) Toggle music on/off
    6) For monstergirl's, create a standing still animation that is unique to each one but simple
    7) have text from each girl during an H-scene that sheds some light on to why they are 'attacking' us.

Most of these idea's have probably already been voiced, but a little extra text never hurt anyone. (maybe the eye's :]) Keep up the awesome work and the only advice I have to give to make this game a success and not waste time already spent on this project, is to keep updating this blog, even if only text. Nothing makes a reader leave a webpage faster than seeing the last post was over 2 months. Viewers who come and visit this blog will only see the 5 minutes THEY spent on looking for an update then comparing that with how long ago the last blog update was. Rarely do viewers measure work done by thinking about the potential time the developers have spent on it daily. It's a horrible mistake, but still happens.

    1. Wow! Thank you for the positive and extremely detailed comment.

I like most of the ideas, though I'm not sure we'll be have the time and resources to implement them. We'll definitely try though.

About that text from each girl during the H-Scene. I'm not sure why but I think that's better left to the imagination. Also, not everyone's into dirty talk.

That last statement hit me hard. You're totally right. I was focusing so much on the game I half-neglected the blog. Well I'll definitely aim to rectify that error.

    2. Very good point about the dialogue, it is so hard to 'feel' like you got the right dialogue that will make everyone happy. You could just have the farmer tell what could have potentially happened to the pumpkins. Or you could tell the story of what happened by using the background of each level. For example, once at the farm, way in the background near the pumpkin patch, a chemical tank leaked or something. No words need to be said and no one will know for sure what caused it, but it would allow viewers to guess and makeup there own story of what could of possibly happened. Could also explain potential boss fight mechanics and how to beat him/her w/e

    3. That's a good idea. We definitely don't want our enemies to be glossed over. I want them to have meaning and impact similar to the game Desire Dungeon, even though our game has duplicates. We're still thinking of ideas but I believe we have a few interesting ways to make people interested in our Monster Girls.
I'm glad you even thought about something though. This level of interaction is great.

  3. finally got to play this. i like it. was fun and surprisingly challenging for an H game lol. a few things though.
    1. the air attack seems to not hit very easily.. there's a lot of timing involved.. so jumpin in and kicking the enemies is tough sometimes... if you want you can add a downward attack for air to ground fighting or extend how long that attack will actually hit the enemy...? just my opinion though. i'll need to fight air enemies to really see if there is a problem with it.
    2. the pumpkin girl's lunge seems to hurt you even way after she's done actually attacking...just kind of standing there with her arms out can hurt you, which i find a touch annoying... i mean that wouldn't hurt right? *shrugs* your call if you want to adjust that.
    3. the little sparkles for secrets maybe should be brighter? i walked past a few of them without noticing (i backtracked and eventually found all the pictures though)

really these are just minor gripes... no real glaring flaws... hope the game comes out ok and am looking forward to more levels and mogi!

  4. As I thought, the changes to the sex scenes makes it MUCH nicer! I also don't recall the animation gallery, which is very nice also. The saving is also much appreciated.

I can also see the instructions of how to escape a grapple as well!

I haven't played enough to give true feedback, but I will voice some thoughts.

As Tizy said, some dialogue to explain WHY the MoGis are attacking might be nice. As it stands, the comms cut out, we enter the next area and there are MoGis but we have no explanation as to why they're there, how he knows that attacking them won't just kill them, or why they sexually attack him. Or for that matter, why cumming in them is a bad thing.

Its not vital, no, but I feel it helps flesh the world out a bit.

My other suggestion is could there be dialogue in the sex scenes? Not like textbox-style dialogue (as that could get in the way of the whole escaping part), but maybe just some taunts showing up at the top might be nice. It does add flavor.

I'm going to throw you some money on the Offbeatr, the least I can do given I have liked the Ucogi games (although I liked the strip ones the most) and I do like me some monstergirl reverse rape games.

I just wish I had some more money. Some of your prizes are pretty great! If I had $500... or $2000 or something, hahahaha.

I will be eagerly following the schedule of this game though, keep it up!

    1. Dialogue as to why the MoGi are there...
Well to be honest the MoGi aren't even supposed to be there yet in the plot, but what's a demo w/o the main attraction. Don't worry the first appearance of a MoGi will be handled better in the full-game than it is in the demo.

      Delete
    2. Ah I see, keeping it a secret. And yeah, I can see that reasoning. I mean, having a demo to showcase your gameplay isn't bad, but it would be far less appealing without the hentai aspect ALSO being showcased...

      Delete
    3. Played around a bit more, I noticed it is still possible to actually hit 'z' to escape a sex attack as soon as it starts. Or at least, I managed to do it once, so it might be a fluke.

And I have to say, I still have only ever find 1 card... can never seem to find the other 6 still!

      Delete
    4. Have you ever entered the alley? There's 2 of them there ;)

      Delete
    5. There's an alley!? Maybe there's more side areas... I always check all the doors, but they're locked hahahaha.

      Delete
    6. Voms can't open numbered doors in the demo. The alley is between doors 1 and 2. Good luck!

    7. Thanks, I actually found some more! I didn't even think of a few of those spots...

  7. Made a post at 3dgspot about this game and offbeatr, then remembered my manners and calmed myself down. Do the developers mind if we post about this game on other blogs/websites of similar interest etc?

Thanks for liking our game to the point of sharing it with other people. That post was professional and hit all the main points.

Now you made me curious about 3dGspot. I didn't like their newest Toothfairy animation. I hope their other work is coming along smoothly.

    2. I PM'd you the info. If you are looking for a potential store to sell your product, I know affect3d has one. But I have no clue of the requirements or price cut they take. Plus it might only be 3D art, who knows. That was the next place I was gona post.

    3. I don't like Affect3D too much.. I know it's blasphemy and all but I truly dislike Futa and Gangbang. Their women are hot and their tech is top-notch but their content is not to my tastes.

  8. I have zero complaints at this point, everything I asked for in my last comment was addressed and you guys are awesome. Definitely putting some money in for you guys.

Question though: is this one of those crowd funding type deals where you don't keep anything if you don't meet the goal? Cause that would blow...suck..I mean...it wouldn't be good. :(

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. lol I see what you did there.
Unfortunately, OffBeatr is an all-or-none funding model. It's so fans can feel safe in their money not being put to use unless the goal is reached. I have no idea why these guys don't feel like the users are smart enough to know when to spend money, but well OffBeatr is our only option for crowdfunding the game.

  9. Can anyone help me? For some reason, the game can't play properly. I even reinstalled the demo several times but it's no good. Whenever I start the game, it first zooms in on the MoGi, then the rest of the game bugs out, with two different camera views shown making the character and objects nonvisible, the dialogue begins with missing words, pressing the arrow keys doesn't help much but move the camera as designed, and pressing control doesn't help either. Pressing Control only shows the different animations of the character and that's about it. Please help. I am using Windows 7 and my graphics card is Intel 4000 with the recent update.

As of this comment, they have 82 votes out of 330. Tell your friends to vote!

    2. That's very generous, thank you! But first, the voting period needs to be over :)
In the main time please spread the word. We really need to make a great game!

  11. The game is incredibly fun! Though, part of me is curious of maybe a more active part in the sex for Voms? Who knows, maybe if you get a particular item and you think you are not gonna break out, you can turn the tables to make the timing minigame easier? Or even something for him to survive one climax!

  12. @TitanAnteus

You should spread this game info on every important hentai forum out there man... I saw you at hongfire and ulmf, but you should go to nihonomaru too, there are the ones i can think on the top of my head, but there are others too!

  18. It's very disappointing that the executable is a Windoze program. I know how to use Linux `wine` but running a game in Windows emulation mode is suboptimal, if it works at all. Hopefully, there will be someday a usable port for Mac, Linux, and Unix users (E.g. Java or Python based).

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Okay, it seems to run acceptably on Linux using the `wine` utility. Command line: wine MogiOrigins.exe

Mac, Linux, and Unix users: You must have already installed the "wine" package (obviously!). Also, it looks nice if you install one of the Microsoft core font packages (E.g. ttf-mscorefont on Ubuntu or Debian).

It seems that this Windows set is well-behaved and not very complex in terms of Windows resources. I have found the game play quite swift (fast enough for me). Also, the audio works flawlessly in Ubuntu and Debian.

      Delete
    2. I forgot to add: Since Android is essentially a Linux distribution, I would guess that this game will run on (at least) some of the quad-core Android devices and tablets (E.g. RK3188) with at least 2GM main memory - providing they are rooted. Again, you will need `wine` and a Microsoft corefont package.

You can also dual-boot your Android device by plugging in a MicroSD card that has been installed with Linux (E.g. Ubuntu or Debian). Then, you can enjoy the same experience as a Linux desktop user.

I wonder what this game will look/sound like using an HDMI 60" Sony or LG TV and a decent HD stereo?

      Delete
    3. Ports to other operating systems is definitely a possibility. Honestly, this mostly depends on how the OffBeatr goes.
The program I'm using to make this game is close enough to the application layer where I can make complex games while not worrying about resource management. Stuff like graphics, and sound libraries.

The game is built at an HD internal resolution and the sound is all OGG, and we understand that right now we can't reach a lot of gamers, however; it's well known that games have problems on operating systems outside of Windows and most gamers use PCs, and I have a PC so I'll be mainly developing for that device.

      Delete
  19. The game is quite amusing. Nice job. The girls are cute (just my type!). I haven't made it all the way through so I hope that the game will have some girl-on-girl too [(-:] or that can be something to consider for the future?

Some things that I'll look for in the future:
    1) Save/Restore a game
    2) Switch between windowed and full screen mode within the game

Again, thanks for your efforts on a job well done.

    1. A save system is already implemented... hmm.. I'm guessing it doesn't work with wine. Alt+Enter should toggle fullscreen as well.

      Delete
    2. Alt-Enter currently causes wine to crash )-: However, it's not a big deal; playing in full screen is quite nice even though there are times that I'd like to pause and do something else.

How is Save/Restore invoked? Is there a draft of a user guide somewhere? Apologies if I missed the obvious.

      ss

      Delete
    3. You can pause with enter. If you go to controls you can see all these controls! You save when you enter the room, at the end of the first "level". The it tlls you to press C and thats how you save. How could you have missed that? Both issues seem quite obvious indeed ^^

  20. I think you should add a small bio of each character at the offbeatr page and some pics of them, not everybody knows Ucogi and the other characters... knowing a little more about them can make they want to play with those. Explaining Alice was never naked and why, can make it more interesting. Saying Rudy never was on a Ucogi game too, stuff like that.
Here is one example http://www.jlist.com/product/P003SET scroll down the page and you will see what i mean
On this there is a brief presentation of each character followed for some H of them http://www.alles.or.jp/~uir/CG/mihon8/crim_gakuen.htm
