For a while now, a lot of things have been going on behind the scenes.
Titan here, what I'm programming is mostly level and save related. We plan on releasing the game once Voms' story is complete and later on, release extra content afterwards in the vein of Ucogi's playthrough, Chibi's playthrough, and so on and so forth. This means the game needs to be future proofed on a technical level.
Right now, whenever you start a new beta you'll need to start a new game because instance IDs (which saves things), might have shifted around. For instance, if you move a barrel, save and go back to see the barrel it should be where you moved it. Every new beta however, we add new objects and instances and that changes around the IDs of all these objects in GameMaker. This is part of the reason why you must start a new game whenever a new Beta comes out. Currently, switching out all interactive instance IDs with custom ones, and an ID search function so I don't use the standard that comes with GM. If I do everything properly even new updates won't need new saves. I know this sounds familiar, but it's because I still haven't finished doing it yet.
This is time consuming as we have a lot of interactive objects. I had made some progress on this front earlier but while adding new levels I saw some vestiges of the old system still being used and I am currently ironing everything out. Thankfully, we don't have any more memory issues as of now.
Veins is half-done with Ucogi's sprites. He also finished Pixie's sprite sex scene and he is about to finish Vampire's sprite sex scene and Vampire's sex scene with Voms.
We are also linking the levels that were previously created to this version of the game, while fixing any issues that may have existed in them. Things like invisible platforms not existing, audio glitches in the wrong use of invisible platform, camera motion not focusing on the right area, and enemy placement glitches.
Other than that, we want you to know we are still around and we are doing our best to make a game that will make everyone happy!
So is there a new beta?
ReplyDeleteNot yet. There are things we need to address first in order to release a decent working Beta.
DeleteSo do you have an ETA? Keep up the great work, I know you can't rush perfection! lol
DeleteWe will try to release a beta by the end of June, but I cant be certain because I have a lot to finish, and so does Titan.
DeleteI want to have to new labs finished.. they got many puzzles and unique elements to program. They are actually the most puzzle heavy part of the game. But if this happens, then we can link all the levels up to SlimeGirl Red, which is the normal path that Voms follows. When this happens it would be a HUGE relief for me. After that, Voms' game would be very close to finish, and way more fun for me to work on it.
Good to know you guys are still working
ReplyDeleteAllright, nice everything still works here.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear the progress update. Keep us posted!
ReplyDeleteThe past few months I had hard time keeping my spirit up and I was in a fragile state of mind. Your optimism really motivates me in this gray phase of my life, so thank you all for your positive comments. You have no idea how much this helps my mentality regarding the game.
ReplyDeleteit is fine, you are doing well. just remember this: if things are looking gloomy or bad, just find a way to cheer yourself up at any cost. there is always a way to progress, and staying positive is a way to find it.
DeleteDon't worry, I'm not suicidal! I just wanted to vent and express my thoughts. This game has drag out for so long, far longer than I could ever assume. All I need is some balance and patience. Music helps :)
DeleteAh,Glad to see the progress is almost there,I cant't wait to see the new beta version anytime soon
ReplyDeleteI hope your new beta is out this month. I really want to finally pay to get in on the beta action. I'd like to wait for the next one.
ReplyDeleteHonestly if you are having that much trouble motivating yourself to work on this, then I should say just give up and throw the project in the trash. Saying this as a friend. Design isn't easy, your mental stability has more value than your work.
ReplyDeleteQuitting is not an option, never was. Trashing this would be more than career suicide. I've spend a good chunk of my life working on this game.
DeleteI don't need to be told to either quit or to keep my self motivated. Talking about the game is what helps me and what I've been missing most of all.
I do second guess myself a lot, thinking if the backgrounds have enough detail, wanting to add more gradient colors or even animated background elements so that the game won't look as static as it it. But then, I'm not sure if that matters at all.
After spending so much time on this project, I lost sight of what is needed. How do I polish the game without working on unimportant details? I need to figure this out soon.
So wait, Pixie is getting a scene all her own? I thought she was just hostage stuff. That's pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteNo, by "Pixie's sprite sex scene" I do mean "hostage stuff". We had trouble naming the hostage scenes because the term was perceived... negative and we had complains. We use to call it HR, then Titan started calling it "map scene". Either way, it will appear in the gallery in HD.
Deletedead....
ReplyDeletethis is sooo dead, they probably got a stroke or run of with the money
DeleteIs there a new beta?
ReplyDeleteNope. Still here.
ReplyDeleteok... any progress on the game?
DeleteI am unsure if there is a new beta.
ReplyDeleteno new beta yet. We still got some work to do before we have the new beta ready.
