Hello everyone! I hope you are all well.
I was extremely busy this month, dealing with some lose ends. I'm glad Ucogi was around to help me clean up my dusty folders and put a few things in place.
There was contest that inspired to me to finally finish a bunch of card games (currently one of my games is in semi-finals! ^^). I wanted to complete these games for quite some time and that was a good opportunity. Also I went back and revamped existing games and their shop pages:
I modified the MoGi Deck, adding about a dozen new mogi. Ucogi Deck and Ucogi Nude Deck are updated and edited to be as identical as they can be. Ucogi Nude Deck has special improvements regarding the nude edits. I revisited the Ghost Deck and released 2 original games, the 15 Ghosts and Super Magical Gems. Creating images, videos and pages for all these games was madness.
Finishing these games and the fact that it was "itch.io day", motivated me to work on Ucogi's last game, Solitaire Quest. And after it's release I added a playable demo for both SQ and Orphanarium. And then I had to add all the above in Ucogi.com with new thumbnails and everything. And I had to work on my personal site (nobody goes there). Not to mention the work on another 3 card games. Like I said, madness!
Around that time I placed Ucogi Valentine on Zazzle... but with all the above, I missed the Valentine's deadline! Still though, I'm just glad I managed to do so much, and that now I can move on.
Regarding MoGi Origins, I did some research about voice actresses. Right now I need to create a word document with all the MoGi and decide where they need voices. And then hire a few people that I found, so that every MoGi has a consistent voice when they hit you or when they get hit. I hope everything works well, because 28 MoGi and 5 female playable characters are a lot of work.
I will resume working on it this week. I just had to distance myself a bit, deal with all these unfinished projects that were clogging my mind, and return with a fresh pair of eyes.
i sincerely wish you good luck, i can tell you are really heavily investing in your business. i wish you best of luck in finding some success.
ReplyDeleteThank you. There was so much art and ideas that I didn't want to go to waste.
DeleteAll these physical products can be a bit expensive to make and ship, so I don't make more than $2 from each one of them. The same goes for most of my itch.io games.
So it's not about the money, but about having something nice out there for anyone who likes Ucogi.
$2 profit is not a good business model. just saying as a friend to a friend.
DeleteMaybe you are right, but it's the only way to keep the cost down regarding the card games and merch. Even so, they dont sell much. Perhaps things get better after the MoGi Origins release. I can only hope. Thank you for your concern.
Deleteany eta on a new beta?
ReplyDeleteNice timing. Just today Titan started working on the game once more. The plan goes like this:
DeleteTitan works for 10 days during March. He will finish Alice's boss fight, while I try to pinpoint anything that needs fixing. Then I have to fix a few graphical details while deal with a voice actress and other things. I would know more when Titan is done for March, but we are close. If I had to guess, I'd say April.
But I'm borderlining on burnout since I havent left my room for months, so I need to avoid the mental pressure of promising a date. I will do my best though, to release a worthy beta.
I want to mention the progress without making a blog post.
ReplyDeleteTitan is working on boss Alice and on some game bugs that I detected. Also I'm working with a voice actress who's going to do a few voices for the game, including Alice and Ucogi.
We are at the end of April how goes the possible beta?
ReplyDeleteSadly, my programmer was supposed to work for 10 days during March and 10 for April but he could only work for 5 days instead of 2, in 2 months. So, not much is done programing-wise.
