Progress and background info

While we are working to finish the upcoming beta, we are going to inform you about the game's progress and entertain you with some background info!


Map
We have altered the map many times to ensure the quality of our game (current version v102). Having 7 different characters roam on the island is tricky. There are 7 different stories to be told and those characters need to be on certain places at a certain time. When Voms meets Rudy for example, their dialogue needs to have a meaning that will affect both their storylines. Hopefully the character interactions will be a nice addition to the game and their stories will play out well, because we want to make a smart and creative game.

At this point it should be mentioned that all the areas in the game are 90 and all the buildings are 80 (but 25 of them won't be accessed by any of the characters). We recently added a few new areas and buildings that weren't originally planned. All important buildings have unique names and functions.



NPCs
We decided to makes each NPC unique and project their personalities whenever possible. This will be shown in detail during Rudy's and Alice's timeline where they question or interrogate the NPCs trying to solve mysteries!



MoGi Cardfight accessories
We are adding items that appeared in the original card-game, such as barrels, power-ups and robot enemies. Some of these items serve only as background decorations in MoGi Origins, but they are a nice subtle addition. Also, we plan to include all the Monster Girls from MoGi Cardfight in some way... some of them might unlock doors, or teach the characters new moves!



Stories
As we said in the beginning, we got 7 stories that occur at the same time. Although we have written down most of the script, there are blank areas and details to be filled as we go along. This leads us to explore more creative possibilities and will make our story stronger.

Talking about possibilities, we often ask ourselves "What would this person do if...". Following this line of thinking can lead us to explore the characters, making them have personality and be as interesting as they can be. The idea behind these character interactions is to throw 2 of them together in a situation and see what the outcome is. That's drama!


Completion stats
Of course you might be not be interested in any of the above and you are here for the sex scenes and the completion of the game. If that's the case, here's what is done so far:

MoGi enemies 6/12 (50% done)
MoGi hostage rapes 4/6 (66% done)
MoGi Queens (for Voms only) 2/8 (25% done)
Other Queens/Bosses 0% 

Map 99.9% done
Areas 95% done
Buildings 90% done
Story 98% done

While the above percentages are legit, they leave a few things out. For example, they don't mention the extra MoGi enemies, MoGi HR scenes or other extra enemies such as the soldiers and robots.

  1. Yeah the map was always somewhat confusing to look at, glad to see you added labels to it! Anyway will the next beta contain another playable character aside from Voms? Also, to reiterate, the 7 characters would be Voms, Rudy, Chibi, Alice, Ucogi, Vor + ? Would it be Dedu?

    1. We got our share of complains about the map but we can't change that now. It's one of those experiments that either work or not. In order to understand the map, you need to realize that the green line in each area symbolizes the ground. It is a somewhat 3D map, presented from a top view.

      The 7th character is Ninjuco, a busty ninja girl :P

      The beta that Titan prepares right now won't have a new playable character but the one after that should have Ucogi.

  2. Any info on Succogi/Succalice?

    1. We planned how the story will unfold and where and when the fights will take place.

      Before I get to design them, I need to design a couple more bosses. It goes without saying that Succogi/Succalice will appear after Ucogi and Alice are designed. Ucogi and Alice are a great challenge because they need to look at their best and they would require extra work. That also means that I have to design Ucogi, Alice and Succubus at the same time and pre-plan the fights. Thats a huge challenge... To pull this off, I would need to stay inside for a month, without talking to anyone! >_<

  3. Very nice progress guys! :D Glad to see a lot of work was put into the npcs and background and not just the mogi and protags themselves, that truly makes a game feel unique and special! Great job! Can't wait to try out the next beta!

    1. Rudy and Alice will have to solve a major mystery each, by asking the NPCs and trying to prove if they are lying or not. This is a very recent concept for the game for those who like a bit more exploration. It would be optional of course. I'm not sure if this is an original idea, most probably not, but it will give some more depth to these stories and characters.

      I dont know the details yet but we need the NPCs to have different names, personality and appearance. I will write these investigation sub-plots when I'm done with all the art, while I'm waiting for Titan to finish his programing part.

    1. Your support is the best one we could ever hope to have! The game progresses but not in visible ways, that's why we have to show what happens behind the scenes.

      I really have 102 versions of the map and I'm sure it will change some more before the final release. The unique NPCs and Rudy/Alice mysteries are new additions as well. Plus, we are trying to fit in all the MoGi from the card game, even if not all of them will have sexy scenes. And I hope each character's story is interesting. This is a huge game that takes a lot of time and we have the responsibility to make it be as good as it can!

  5. Just for clarification, Chibi Ucogi is Ucogi as a child while Ninjuco is from when Ucogi worked as a ninja for Mr. Tremmors, right?

    Also, does Succogi/Succalice refer to a Succubus that decides to take Ucogi & Alice's form? If so, would they look 100% identical to them, or would there be some minor physical differences?

    1. Such spoiler-heavy questions!

      All I can for the 1st question is that Chibi, Ucogi and Ninja appear almost at the same time on the island, so there is no time-travel involved! For more info, you would need to play the game and explore their stories.

      The 2nd question is easier to answer. Yes, Succogi/Succalice are Succubus' Ucogi & Alice's form. Succ forms might have more exaggerated moves as a boss fight, but we would now more when we work on that. In a discussion with Titan we concluded that Succogi would play as Ucogi, but her moves would be simplified (no combo hits for example) but her damage will be stronger and she will have some flaws, like being able to dodge some of the attacks. We would know more when the characters get designed, but I don't think that any visual changes will be made.

      Succubus plays a large role in the game and she was the most voted MoGi in Ucogi-forums. She is a very special MoGi!

    2. I think both Succogi and Succalice have a big difference from their counter part. Both Succogi and Succalice will go naked and reverse rape Voms. Can't imagine the originals doing that at all! But I can't stop thinking how epic this is going to be!

      There are certain rules we need to follow to stay true to the characters. The story has to go a certain way for things to make sense.

      On the other hand, Rudy's running joke is that she is uglier that Ucogi and she is kind of jealous of her (That is not shown so far because Rudy hasn't been in any games yet). Succubus having that same opinion about Rudy, magnifies that fact, and I find that to be subtle and funny.

    1. It's more like an inside joke. More people pay attention to Ucogi than Rudy (I assume because of the boob size), so Rudy tries to piss off and tease Ucogi on a regular basis. I think people don't like Rud as much because on her character, which Rudy seems to embrace. She is like "I am myself. If you dont like me stay away". Ucogi on the other hand is nice to everyone.

    2. Actually... yes there are 6 HR in the game but two of them (SlimeGirls Pink and Orange) weren't supposed to be in the game, they are extras. So, there are 2 more HR to be added, making them a total of 8.

      The number of HR that was pledged was 6 and that is what we have to do for the game. Anything extra is an added bonus. We ave added many more things that we needed, because we like to make an even greater game than we originally planned.

    4. We have added many things that originally weren't supposed to be in the game. For example, we added Pink because in the options of MoGi Origins you can turn the adult scenes off. That was requested by a few who wanted to play the game around family without being ashamed by the adult material.

      So, Pink is the placeholder of every HR in the non-adult options. But why having just pink, if we can alter her to be sexy and color her Orange? Now Orange exists, Pink exists, and everyone is happy!

      Many more extra things have been added for the good of the game (new enemies, additional levels, even new moves).

      We want to make a great game, not cheat our pledgers by releasing a bad game. And most importantly we do listen to our fans, and many changes in the game were made because of that.

  8. As it happens often , my calculations are a bit off. The areas are not 90 and the buildings are not 80 after all..

    I counted them again and the buildings are 82. Also I forgot to count extra levels that don't take place in the island such as Vor's prequel level and Tremmors' Mansion. That's like 2 extra areas.

    So much work yet to be done! xD

      Titan needs to work a bit more on the levels before he has something presentable. I wasn't going to design a new MoGi for this release but seeing how long it has been without a new MoGi, I will need to add one.

      So I guess we should have something ready in about 3 weeks time.

      At first we wanted to release a few new areas without new MoGi. Then, 4 days before the release I was like "wait... Voms cant go there yet! We need to make these other 6 areas first!" And those new areas had new challenges such as a big new building where.. hmm spoilers!

      And then another month passed and... now we have to make a big update because it took us too long to release anything earlier.

      The irony is that 2 months ago we decided to work harder and release 2 betas each month. Wishful thinking as it appears to be. No matter how hard we try, personal life and other obstacles can stall a project like this. Life is so unpredictable...

  12. As Butts said, anything is better than silence, even if it's redundant "we're still working on it." When you go quiet, that's when people begin to question whether something can potentially become vaporware.

    It's kind of like the deal with Elio Motors right now and their three wheeled car. They were supposed to start production in Louisiana in Shrieveport (sp?) and then all of a sudden they lost the facility. Production has been pushed back and the only time they have said stuff was something along the lines of wanting more money.

    While it's not similar to you guys, I compare it only because the product is still "in development" so it's somewhat comparable. I eagerly await the updates, even though I myself can't play the beta, I use it to gauge how the progress on the game is going.

    No offense to you guys, but $30 for a beta access is a bit too pricey for me. If it were $10, maybe $15 I'd be down, but anything more than that for beta is a bit much. That's not to say I don't like the game. The free demo you released was fun and I enjoyed it very much so. I'm also still adamant that Pixie is my favorite one.

    Outside of Succubi and Lamiae, fairies / pixies have always held a dear place in my heart as they're adorable. Seeing a big busted sexy one was just awesome. :P

    Anyways, keep up the good work. Remember, anything is better than nothing in the world of communication. Even if it's just to say that things aren't going as planned due to real life, etc. Just keep in touch with us and let us know. That's really all that -most- of us ask for. Godspeed you guys.

    1. Sometimes we prefer to have something positive to say in our posts, so that we can get positive feedback to inspire us and motivate us. Transparent as we try to be, we have the need to avoid negative discussions, focus on the bright side and keep on working.

      The biggest issue we faced so far was the Memory problem. Last Summer the game started crashing because it had too much data in it. Titan spent months trying to solve this problem and he even had to redesign a huge chunk of the game. The problem was solved because (luckily) someone had just made a video plug-in for the GameMaker and we switched the sex scenes to external video files. That look a lot of our time and we had to collaborate with the programmer since his plug-in needed some alterations and Titan was actually the first person to add video files in a game made in GM! We kept this quiet because we wanted to solve this problem without having additional pressure. The problem was solved little by little... a couple of months ago Titan fixed the final glitches of the video problem. The only downside of the video is that Neko's lick animation can't loop, but we have to live with that.

      Issues like the above, plus personal matters have stalled this project a lot. I keep doing art and Titan keeps programming as much as he can. We still have a lot to do and some of our calculations might be a bit off, but we do our best.

      The memory problem is still a threat... we need to make many levels by reusing much of the art while the levels still feel fresh in the eye. In that end, we do have many things to balance behind the scenes.

      Me, I was even doing research of "how to write a good story" to "go out there and take pictures of interesting facilities". I need to update some of the art as well.. the water needs animation and the fridge's look so... outdated! Also I was trying to come up with interesting buildings that make sense in a semi-futuristic community as the people who work in that island. So I got to design some interesting Physics labs, Chemistry labs and even 3D printing facilities! And the level design is not over yet.... every time we need to add a new boss fight we have to alter a level to accommodate that boss.

      About the price, $30 might be a lot but you get the full game in the end. And we aim to keep that promise like we kept all our promises so far. Except the deadlines.. these are a bit elusive! ^^;

      I remember reading about that memory issue. Glad you got it sorted out. Still, the same remains, I'm eagerly awaiting the finished product, just don't worry about it. I'm not a paying beta member so I'll patiently wait. A wise man once said, "A late game is eventually good. A bad game is forever bad."

    1. "A jiangshi, also known as a Chinese vampire, ghost, or zombie, is a type of reanimated corpse"

      I had to do a 2 second research to see what that is, because I had no idea. I found a few images about it, and I remember Hsien-Ko from Darkstalkers.

      My thoughts for not having a jiangshi are the following:

      1) There are many monsters that could have been included in the game but we can't have every single monster from every mythology included here.

      2) We tried to have somewhat popular monsters. A jiangshi may be popular in asia but... we dont even have a monsters as popular as Frankenstein, Gnomes or Mermaids here.

      3) The MoGi were created behind a certain philosophy. They can't fly, swim or be ghosts/undead because they must never leave the island. So jiangshi doesn't really fit the current theme. The only flying MoGi are Succubus and Pixie (Succubus received wings due to popular demand) but we made sure that their wings are not big enough or that these 2 MoGi aren't strong enough to fly long distances. There is a certain condition in the card game where Vampire brings level1 MoGi back from the dead, and you may consider a Vampire to be undead but for the most part I think being a ghost or zombie is more like a condition, rather than a monster itself. In that regard, the card game at least, has zombies, but not as a monster but as a condition of other monsters, such as Zombie Neko and Zombie Pixie and even Zombie Voms.

      4) You might say that Naid is a water spirit and unpopular, so why include her? I don't have a good explanation there... I guess I was looking for a new kind of monster, one that is subtle and gentle, without big boobs (as opposed to every other MoGi) and I really liked the fact that she can perhaps manipulate water. I have no idea what a jiangshi would do regarding her attacks and skills.

      5) We already have Vampire as an undead-ish MoGi. We wanted more variation. Now you might say "but you have 3 mushrooms and 5 slimes!" Slime girls are a family. Mushrooms.. I guess I was lazy there :P

      6) Each family has 8 MoGi, except RockGirls and SlimeGirls, they got 6. Jiangshi would only fit in the FairyGirls family. In that case I guess the only MoGi that could be removed is Naiad because she is not a famous monster. But I personally prefer Naiad to jiangshi :)

      Wow thats a lot of answers! I don't know if there would be a sequel to this game (it will depend on how well this game goes) and I dont know if there would be a jiangshi in that sequel. It would be something that I would have to discuss with Titan and it would depend on how the story expands. I find it unlikely at this time but I have changed my opinion in the past about many things so.. we'll see! :)

  14. If it needs to meet some certain conditions to restrict it from leaving the island, there is a myth that these jiangshi can be somewhat controlled using spell tags. I just got this idea from reading a doushinji that featured jiangshi just last night.

    2. In this game we try to use technology and science to justify pretty much anything. Me and Titan had a bit of a conflict on that regard and we decided to leave a few explanations vague. So I guess in my mind "magic" is anything that can't be explained currently by science. But we can't have spirits, myths, spells and souls as part of the game's reality unless they are the subjective opinion of an NPC or something. I'm fine with someone believing in spirits but if spirits start appearing out of nowhere... that's a different kind of game. Probably a horror game.

      I would be ok with a scientific equivalent of a ghost, such as a sentient hologram or an artificial intelligence made by some kind of a semi-transparent material that floats around scaring or electrifying people. But yeah, that's for another game!

    1. You are asking some tough questions! Right now we are struggling to release the new beta before June 1st. We might not make it, mainly because i have to create a new MoGi and right now I'm working on perfecting the art in some areas.

      The game will most probably take the whole summer to be completed. And after that, a few more months to tweak it, making as good as it can be. We'd rather not announce dates or approximations of dates.

      We do try our best to finish... but we also have to worry about the quality of the game. Not everything we create is a step forward. Right now I had to redesign 3 areas (ruined labs) because I wasn't happy with the result. I've been working on the for 3 whole days and I'm still not happy with them. And I wont stop until I'm satisfied with the result.

    3. Real answer: I can't be sure because that's an unpredictable result. Right now we are probably talking about a sequel of this game and I can only assume that everything is possible. I would have to do a bit of biology research (and talk to Titan) to answer this correctly.

      Scientific answer: Not all rapes can end up in pregnancy. There's always the possibility of miscarriage, teratogenesis and other results. It's highly probable that the MoGi can give birth to male and female MoGi, human and hybrids, following Mentel's law.

  18. Another long night.. it's 2:30 in the morning and I start working, probably for the next 6-8 hours. I have to revamp all the old labs levels. I'm glad that Titan likes the new dirty design so I have to apply it to another 3 areas.

    I still have to design the buildings of this area. I got the drafts on paper of the 4 buildings I need to do. Each building will have a different there (Biology, Zoology etc). These levels have a lot more detail that any other level of the game because they need to appear old and dirty. That's a challenge because the tiling is hard, the design needs to make sense and the level needs to be challenging and interesting.

    When I'm done with this, hopefully by the end of my day, I will be very happy!

  20. It took me 6 whole days to perfect the old labs. Titan likes them and I'm quite pleased as well. Yesterday I was too tired to work and I needed a break. I was also trying to watch the finale of several series :P

    The old labs have 5 buildings. I have completed their layout on my sketchbook but I still have to draw the interior objects/furniture and walls in my PC and put them all together.

    I keep taking about the old labs because it's what Im working on. Titan still tries to finish Forest-C. He is a bit behind me but he will have something to present in the first 10 days of June I hope. I still need to make that new MoGi as well, for the upcoming Beta release.

    I may add a few screens of the Old Labs in our next blogpost.

    1. If I had to pick just one I would go probably for SlimeGirl Red. She has the biggest boobs and is soft. She can even serve as a couch! I do like Troll a lot because she looks sporty but I imagine RockGirls to be a bit.... not soft! And my 3rd would be FairyGirl Pixie but only if she is human size and not butterfly size!
