New Patreon goal (poll) & new programmers!

Patreon goal
After a big bumpy ride, it's time for some good news. We reached our 3rd goal on Patreon thanks to our patrons and their patience. This means is that MoGi Origins will have a new Hostage Rape soon!

"Hostage Rape"? That sounds bad right? Don't worry, it's not that bad. In case you don't know or you forgot, Hostage Rapes occur in the game when a sexy monstergirl dominates a poor male citizen for sex. Anyone who supports Team Erogi on Patreon with $5 or more, not only gets the latest beta of MoGi Origins but can also vote for one of the following MoGi! The poll closes on April 10.

New Programmers
Veins was scouting for two and a half months for new programmers, since Titan is occupied with real life matters and he is unable to work on the game's development. After a long and exhausting search, we found AD who's tiling levels for about 2 weeks now (he made 4 levels so far) and JR who will be involved with the core programming. Titan will still be around providing help and insights and hopefully the project won't be stalled any longer.

Rejected co-workers
In our research for programmers, we came in contact with people who are frauds or incompetent. Hiring a freelancer is risky and some people should be punished, not only because they steal money, but also because others may lose their trust on freelancing or other online activities. We decided to not make public the personal info of the "bad programmers" involved, because we just want to move forward and leave this behind. Other than exposing these people, we want to describe the mess behind the scenes, justify the development time we lost and prove that we never stopped trying to make things work. So, here's a summery of what happened since February:

Bad programmer #1: We found a programmer who seemed competent at first, but as soon as finances got involved we saw his true colors. He just left a week later. It seems others have been duped by him as well and his freelancer profile is now gone.
Bad programmer #2 (company): A seemingly serious company wanted to take over MoGi Origins. However, they were generally incompetent and couldn't finish what Titan could do in 1 day in nearly 3 weeks. After many excuses and absurdities they ended up delivering absolutely nothing.

Escaping the darkness
After all this mess things start looking bright once more. We will try to release a new beta in the next few days. That beta will include the 2 Chibi MoGi and Voms' sub-weapons. Hopefully the updates will be more frequent from now on. We aim for a new beta release per month if everything goes well. Thank you all for your support and patience during our darkest times.

  1. I'm an original Offbetr supporter so is there a way for us to vote if we payed for the beta originally or is it patreon only?

    1. That's a good point. I would have to consult with Titan on this, but the way I'm thinking about it right now... it makes more sense to have it be only for Patreon.

The main reason that comes to mind is that we can easily filter who gets access to the poll through Patreon. The alternative would be to email to anyone who bought the Beta and also double check anyone who claims to own the beta.

In a similar manner we would have to notify about the poll everyone with a Beta. The Patreon people are all in one place and they can see the post by the press of a button.

Plus this is a Patreon thing now and we want more people engaged there. Patreon is the only thing keeping the game alive because we are otherwise low on money and the new programmers need to get paid.

But it's kind of okay in a way, because in the end you will have an extra HR in your Beta, even without being on Patreon.

  5. So far AD has made 5 new levels and we will try to have JR to program SlmeGirl Red. Meanwhile Titan tries to release the new Beta.

  6. Can we look forward to new mogi or animations in this new beta?

    1. Titan told me that he has added the 2 chibi MoGi who dont have sex scenes. There are other things added, like the sub-weapons.

If everything goes well we will have a new MoGi with a sex scene in the beta after that. Right now I'm trying to have SlimeGirl Red as the next boss fight, even though it's not her time to appear in the game yet. But since this is still a beta we can take some liberties and we also want to test how the new team works in our first collaboration.

  7. So, just to clarify, those of us who paid for the beta on offbetr can still get the beta when it is released? I don't want to see the money I did donate to this project just vanish without the product I was promised when I donated. I wasn't promised polls, so I don't care about them; but I do care about getting the betas when they come out.

    1. Yes, everyone who paid for the beta in Offbeatr will get the final copy of the game, once that is done. Sorry for taking so long but Titan has real life troubles and I try to do the best I can to fix this by hiring new programmers. We havent released a new beta in months but Titan promised he will release a new one soon. I cant wait to play the new beta as well.

    2. Final game is one thing, but as long as I get the chance to play the latest betas, which I paid for via offbeatr, I'm happy.

    3. Victor, it's okay for the delay. I don't always have time to check pages, as you can tell. So, if I read your reply correctly, as a donor via Offbeatr, we no longer have access to the betas. I guess this because you only mentioned the final copy.

      Delete
    4. No, that's incorrect. You can always get the latest beta release from the link we provided.

If you paid for a beta via Offbeatr, access that link to get the current beta and all the betas after that, until the game is completed. When this happens, the beta link won't have the beta any more, but it will have the completed game instead.

    5. Cool! Thanks Victor. I'm glad to see you guys are still up and running with getting this game off the ground. I understand the snags; but at least you guys have always posted something regularly to let us know what was going on.

  8. I don't like it when this blog is quiet. It feels like the hype is gone. But that is reasonable since we havent had a beta in over 8 months. I told Titan to release the beta before Monday, even if it's glitchy. At least we will get to see the 2 chibi MoGi and play around with the new weapons. The beta is never perfect anyways, and that's why we need to let people test it.

AD had made 6 levels so far which is a good number. I'm not sure if we will get to play any of them yet, because Voms doesn't have access to them yet (he need's tool #3). I had to work on levels that will be accessed 2 Betas from now and it kind of hurts, because I was working for 8 months on stuff I havent seen in the game yet and now I'm working on stuff that I won't see for maybe another month. Working with AD felt good though. It was like back then, maybe more than a year ago, when I was working with Titan. This is something that I have missed and felt good.

Things seem to go well with the game but all this waiting and working without visible results had a toll on me. I feel I'm close to burn out. I'm not going out for days, no vacations, I don't sleep normal hours (to talk to the team members from all around the globe), I have no bond with friends that get what I do here (or care to discuss anything other than soccer), money is low since we are saving to pay the programmers... and there are all the personal things that I should be fighting for but I end up avoiding them, because I'm consumed by this game. I try to ignore my real life which is collapsing and I'm having this game as a refuge from reality and insanity.

I have been so depended on this game that nothing else in the world makes sense. Even this game though, waiting for so long, it feels like whatever I do for a long time now is meaningless because I haven't seen much progress in the game for months. I know that this project can be awesome, and that's why I'm still trying to hold on and work the best I can and balance the team (which now has 3 programmers including Titan). I am very tired and I hope that the new Beta will boost my morale. MoGi Origins was so close to failure and I gave it everything I had to save it. I've never been so stressed in my life, and for so long, (more than a year long). I feel very down right now and my willpower is close to zero. I guess I might need to take the weekend off, to rest and try to find some peace inside my very soul.

    1. I second that notion.

    2. We are working on that. I understand that you prefer playing the game than reading the drama. But that is up to Titan. I told him to release the new beta before Monday.

    3. Keep your chin up. Things seem to be going back on track now. Once beta is released, people are going to get optimistic again and so are you.

    4. Thats what Im hoping for. I dont need much to boost my morale but all this waiting is killing me.

There is a local board game competition preshow that I'm attending today... good thing about boardgames is that they dont need someone to program them... the players just follow the written rules.

And like I said above, I needed some time off while waiting for the beta release.

    5. I'm still here! I check this blog everyday to see what's new. I still love slime girl black and I hope I get to see her and her sisters in action, and I want to see this game released too. It's good to see some great news and hope everything goes well. You're ahead on progress, so you deserve a vacation. Let the programmers catch up lol.

This is the first hentai game I spent money on because I was tired of seeing the same most hentai's being humans. My obsession with monster girls kicked in around the same time I found this game. And I instantly saved up enough money to buy a prepaid card, 15 bucks, and buy the 15 dollar deal. If there is a MoGi Origins 2, I'll be buying that too!

    1. Thank you for the kind words. I had a small break, not from work, but from the waiting. As it seems, Titan once more is gone for several days now, since Friday, and he failed to release the new Beta on Sunday. If it wasn't for guys like you, I would have quit by now.

Veins & Titananteus, you guys still have a very good idea and game in making.
I took the time to re-read all the posts I had missed since 2014 and I just want to say:

    1. Thank you... it pains me to know that the develpment time has been 4.5 years now. I'm trying to speed things up with AD doing the levels. I remember back then laughing at Fez that took 5 years to do. Now I know better. This is part of why I'm kind of depressed. We could have done this game so much faster... and what's worse, we are far from finishing it.

My mood will get better when Titan releases this Beta. I'm just tired of waiting for him to do stuff. I mean... we are about to release a beta with the 2 chibi MoGi and the sub-weapons. All these are things I have design since 5 months ago. And it hurts to wait and wait and wait for month after month after month.

    2. As someone who sat through the end of Breeding Season, I'm seeing a lot of parallels. The main coder that has lost his compassion for the project and his dignity to make proper use of the money he was given, with the difference that the lead artist at the time turned out to be an even bigger asshat by fucking everyone over and starting his own project without telling anyone.

I recommend dropping Titan entirely, at this point he is nothing but dead weight. He will still be credited, he can come back if he's able to, but for now you should remove him from the work pipeline and cut his funding as much as possible.

You'll help your game, as it is no longer held back by unwilling team members, you'll help yourself, as you will be able to make progress again and you'll help Titan, as he will be able to move on and not have to deal with a project he clearly doesn't want to anymore.

Easier to say than to do, obviously, but at this point I seee no other option. Titan is clearly burnt out and I don't want you to burn out as well.

    3. That is true but I cant trust the game to other programmers because 2 out of 6 have conned us so far. I made it clear to Titan that I want a beta release by Sunday night even if it is full of bugs. Typically he didnt even reply. Anyways I dont want to talk shit about him because he is forced to act like that. But the problem remains... I cant work like this. This was the last stroke for me.

He is not allowed to take money because that is reserved for the new programmers. As a matter of fact, Im also paying the programmers with my share, even though it's not my fault and Im still working on my part, on the graphics. Im doing this for the progression of the game.

Also, replying on this blog, emails and on patreon is a lot of extra work. Titan helps with that sometimes. Rarely actually but still. Add that on top of doing graphics, story, riddles, enemy ideas, dealing with the other programmers and patreon rewards... Fuck, all that is a lot of work for just 1 person... and doing it for many months now.

My gf broke up with me for ignoring her due to work and for having bad mood for months due to work. Also my mother is sick and this game was supposed to earn money to help her out but all that failed because I have to wait and wait.

If you check previous blogposts you will see art done maybe even years ago but they are still not in the game. So yeah I'm pretty pissed right now about all that.

  14. Can we see something of Alice or Ucogi in the next demo?

    1. No because I havent got around to animate them yet. But their time is near. Ucogi is programmed and playable but alice is not.

      Delete
    2. Animating Ucogi and Alice is a very special job which Im waiting to do for years for this game. I would have finish both of them if I didnt have to spend 2.5 months looking for programmers. And now the plans have changed because balancing the job for 3 programmers along with many other things, doesnt help, and those 2 girls need to look great.

      Delete
    3. I haven't seen anything new from them since the online flash games. At least is nice to know they're going to appear here. :)

      Sssspecially Alice.

  15. There was some delay regarding the beta. Titan is working hard the last 2 days. I played the upcoming beta yesterday and it had many problems but titan fixed most of them. He needs to make sure that the chibi mogi work well and he will try to add 2 robot enemies and as many subweapons as he can. Meanwhile I have to find some fitting sfx. But we are close to a decent beta release.

  16. He did an update to the folder but I guess nothing has changed.

    1. Someone deleted many files from the Beta link and they were replaced. These many files are confusing to some, so Titan is trying out new things, one of them is to have an installer for the game. I tried it, and it works fine, giving a more professional look to the game.

Earlier he was fixing the map and he is almost done programming Turquoise. It's impressive how many things he completed with just 3 days of work. He wants to add as many things as possible for the upcoming release.

      Delete
  17. A small update.

Titan is almost done with Bloodstone and Turquoise. He had worked on them before but somehow his files got corrupted due to GM updates or something. We added a couple new levels with riddles and a sort of an end level fight.

At the same time I gave to AD a huge new level, the tower, which is the most complex level in the game, so he will also be very busy in the following days.

We will try to add a few more small things and correct small problems. Titan already fixed the problems with the map, so for now things appear to go well :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Installer was a pro move. I was very confused about App data

    ReplyDelete
  19. You guys really need to get your shit together. Your project is beginning to look more and more like how Breeding Season turned out every time I check up on this blog.

I understand there are complications -- both professional and personal -- especially given that there hasn't been a new beta in what? Over 8 months? You've been saying a beta is gonna be released "soon" for a while now... And yet, here we still are.

Pardon me if I'm coming across as an ass, but I'm not going to sugar-coat it for you.

    ReplyDelete

    1. You are right an I agree with you. But in my defense, I have tried everything in my power to make this work. I have sacrificed many things and I went out of my way many times. There is art that is over 2 years old that is not in the game yet. Titan is on and off for a year now and thats why I tried to find other programmers. The beta release and all programing aspects are outside of my control but we try to manage every as best as we can. Titan made some awesome progress lately but as he was about to release, he got busy with other things once more. So I keep vugging him to work some more, until he is done.

      Delete
    2. listen, titan has been saying that he just finished with a really stressful project. So either it's this project and he's fuckin' with you or he's doing something else and he's taking this project for granted.

      http://www.ulmf.org/bbs/showthread.php?t=27202&page=186

I hope everything is going well with the other programmers.

      Delete
    3. I said, "stressful situation." I'm talking about REAL LIFE. IRL shit happened to me. Shit that I'd rather not make public not for fear of backlash or negative fan perception or whatever but because it's personal.

Btw, that was a side project I had going for literally months. I just wanted it off of my shoulder as I can't work at the same as the other programmer or we'd get conflicts in the project. Instead of sitting around twiddling my thumbs I thought I'd be productive.

Victor and I talk quite literally every day, and I've been sending him updates of what I do all the time.

Furthermore, this game is huge. Just getting the game to run when I want to test it is a task and a half. Saving all the resources takes 10 minutes and compiling the game from a cleared cache takes 20 with how many resources we have. Imagine doing all that, playing the game for 2 seconds and then finding an extremely unexpected error, going back and fixing it. Can you see how slow that is? This on top of the fact, that I was in no position to make progress b4 is what slowed the project down to a grinding halt.

My PERSONAL situation has changed, and that's what's inspiring Victor so much confidence right now. It's because he's visibly seeing change right now.
