Boss Fight! (Beta v1.09)


I bet you guys have been wondering what we're up to.  Well, we created a lot of new stuff and we're planning a small update soon in the future as well.

What's New:
  • Bossfight - Meet PlantGirls Oak and Leshy! I dont find the fight too difficult. While trying to tone down my gaming instincts I hope she has the correct difficulty. 
  • 2 New Hostage Rapes - RockGirl Iron and SlimeGirl Orange. Orange is more suggestive than anything... she's the only hostage rape that appears when adult mode is off. 
  • 2 Bonus MoGi - PlantGirl Leshy and SlimeGirl Orange weren't supposed to be in the game!
  • 1 New Region - It's sort of a hub region, a lot of places will be blocked off to Voms and you'll see hints of places that are accessible by other characters.
  • Small changes to the Main Menu, credits screen and galleries.
  • The game is now a bit easier.

We hope you enjoy the game so far and that you like Oak's personality while getting to know Voms a little more as well.

PS: The cutscene after the fight will likely face some changes by the next update.

  1. Deleted my other comment to update it cause I used an old save to get around the nonfunctioning forklift and...the next button doesn't work either, the repair by the door at the first pumpkin appearance. The bar fills, the light turns green...nothing happens.

      3. Returning to boss room after beating her replays the music endlessly and stacks with itself and other tracks.

      Though I loved the boss, this seems to be kinda a buggy version x3

      Could you please take a screenshot of the "Part of the sky" is neon green bit? That glitch makes absolutely no sense to me. I'll make a small update in 10-15 minutes with some glitch fixes hopefully...

    3. Hmm...think actually it might be because I have multiple versions of the game in my download folder? My save seems to load in all of them, so I'm wondering if I play clean from the start on an external drive it will go away. Since the wrench fix mechanic has been...well...fixed, I should be able to do a full clean play XD

Well there is 2 glitches I found, first, when you come back in the boss stage, the music of the boss start again, and again, and again and continue even in other stages, also, when the boss use her vine to hit you, if I hit the vine aera before she get burnt, another vine appears making 2 vines, the one that protect her and the burnt one,

    I liked the boss fight, that was fun (and I just love the animation when she is burnt)

    Juste one question, since I started from my last load point, the only hostage rape I found is iron girl, but I see there is another rape, is she in the begining ? I ask because I didn't find a way to come back there, I don't seem to be able to jump down and come back throught the tunnel.

    2. Yeah, sadly on a clean run (complete with data wipe and running from external drive) the music and nonfunctioning panel glitches were still there.

    Now, so far great work! I am curious to whose idea it was to bring in Slime girl Orange, for it seems like an interesting idea to use her as the non adult hostage rape. Pretty ingenious. ^^

    But I think Slime Girl Black is a bit steamed her sister got in first. XD

    2. SG Orange was an inspiration that came after talking to Anonymous in the last blog entry. He asked for breast smother and then it hit me :)

      Orange can also be used in the NSFW game mode so its a sweet way of adding one more MoGi into he game.

  8. Loved the boss fight, it was just difficult enough that you have to learn the pattern and discover the weakness. I got confused by the second non-burning branch that would appear if you stayed in melee range too long. It swayed like it was taking hits even when Vans was between it and Oak.

    Overall, great job you two! Looking forward to watching the rest of the game develop.
    Putting positive thoughts out there that the event-that-shall-not-be-named does not have a second rising.

    Bugs:
    1) Also found the change in sky, it was in one of the pipe areas where you can climb up a few ledges on buildings. Van's ceiling wrench clasp doesn't work too well on them.
    2) The second Orange i found was clipping the ceiling when I went inside a building.

  9. Good update guys, liked the boss fight, the first mogi who spoke a plus indeed. What i really like is how you made us learn the pattern to the boss, which was not too hard not too easy.
    As for glitches too early to say, will be playing fully to find them out. But i can't say much because at the moment nothing really to critique besides any glitches i find. Overall good job guys well worth the wait :)

  10. Great update! I did find a couple bugs for you.
    1. If you free a hostage during their orgasm animation, they get stuck (they still count as being freed, and can be talked to)
    2. If Oak performs her hair whip while off-screen, she gets stuck in the whip animation and you have to reset.

  11. I have to say I absolutely loved the boss fight! At first I was frustrated and it was difficult but as I learned the patterns I enjoyed myself more and more and when I finally beat her I wanted to yell in triumph I felt so proud, all the frustration had been so worth it. I thought this was a fantastic update overall and easily worth the wait. Great job guys!

    2. I love your comment because this is what we were trying to achieve with Oak. Creating this kind of feeling during a boss fight is very tricky and it may not work for everyone. She is a very intimidating boss!

  12. This might sound silly (And I have not played the game in a while, I kinda wanna wait for a few more updates before playing the Beta again) but wouldn't it be better to rebalance Vom's fighting style instead of making the game easier?
    Unless this is intended to rebalance the game since I recall you guys mentioning the beta was made difficult on purpose.
    I dunno, I haven't been keeping up.

    That said, the game is looking great guys! As an inquiry.

    1. If I might ask, what do you see as being the hardest part of the game at present that makes Vom seem unbalanced. Not saying it isn't true, but I'm curious.

    2. It's not Voms that's unbalanced per se. It's just that the game requires more skill and precision than I thought. It's not so bad as the fighting game disconnect, but the difference between someone good at these games and someone bad is big... big enough that someone bad has very little chance of beating it.

    3. Sorry for the late reply, I'll explain mainly due to earlier beta test.
      Now, yes I know this is clearly a beta and what I saw early was a very early build, however
      The character options available, Chibi, Ucogi and Vor are ridiculously powerful compared to what Vom is capable of. Though from his abilities alone, he can interact with the environment, the other characters seem to out class him in every way.
      Since trying them, going back to Vom just made me feel bad for him having a slow wind up attack akin to Simon Belmont in the first Castlevania, but even a shorter range and no sub weapons.
      With the test characters had full three hit combos that the mogis didn't stand a chance against.
      Now I'm not saying that Vom should just stomp the game, nor am I saying to rebalance the still in development characters (Hell they're still in development, I don't know what direction Victor and Titan have taken with them so far) but Vom just feels like he needs...more.
      And rebalancing the game as a whole to make "easier" seems like the less ideal choice. I think Vom should have more options, either a longer range, a sub weapon like throwing a nut or bolt or something. Could even be a skill shot arc like the axe or a boomerang type weapon that while effective, prevents you to just constantly throw as you have to wait for it to come back to you.

      Honestly, I found a strategy with Vom to work around his weakness, but it doesn't feel intended. By jumping, and kicking before landing, I can attack again while the Mogi is still in the hit stun, often with these two attacks, I jump and kick again to finish off any mogis that remain. This becomes a game where I'm kinda doing this wave dashing thing to get through the game.

      That said, game's fun guys. Keep up the good work. I could just be talking nonsense, I'm not a game designer, I'm a....concept guy. And my input is probably a dime a dozen, but it is something.

      Also, I typed this on the spot, so it might sound like nonsense, I probably shoulda reviewed it and refined it, but it's almost exam season. And if this is the direction you guys are going with Vom, power to you guys. I can respect that.

    4. Me and Titan are still talking about adding one more move to Voms list but we haven't settle on it. I don't think it fits Voms to throw projectiles but we are discussing about a charging attack. That however may never happen.

      MoGI Origins would have 7 playable characters in total. Playing the game over and over again, even by visiting new areas and exploring new storylines... it can be a bit boring or repetitive. This is why we made the next few characters more powerful, so that the game is more fun to play as you play again and again. So the game starts slow with Voms and ends up being super fast with Vor. Voms has exploration and riddles to solve, the other characters would have more action. Especially Chibi and Rudy are very different characters than the rest. Also, Vor and Ninja may be ridiculously powerful but their enemies would be powerful too. That's the plan at least.

    5. After discussing internally about Voms' attacks (something we have done over and over since the game's conception) we decided to leave Voms' moves as they are. His moves are a direct link to his character. He is not a fighter like Alice or Vor and he is not as skilled and fast as Ucogi. Voms is an ordinary guy that can fix things. He is special in his own way but that would be revealed as the game progresses.

    6. Putting it in that way, I can see the direction taken. Character design as well as skill progression is an important factor to natural narrative as well.

  18. Very disappointed! So much time we were waiting and this…

    First: I don’t have any music at all. Not in the Start menu, nor during the whole game progress. Other sounds work well though.

    Second: The Boss fight. Yes, I know the tactics, but I still can’t defeat her – it is nearly impossible for me to evade her attacks. I just catch EVERY of her branches! As addition – the whole fight stops when I try to strafe left (deep into the fire), so I need to start from the beginning.

    Third: I don’t like the rape scene. Absolutely. It’s pretty tough: such enormous giant tree should simply smash Vom into the ground because of its weight and huge proportions! The previous rape scenes were much graceful and elegant.

    Fourth: because of undefeatable Oak I can’t move further – so I can’t see what you’ve done there…

    P.S. How much hits should I perform to defeat the Oak?

    1. 1)Your sound glitch is weird. Are you sure you're running the game after it's unzipped? You're the only one who's had this problem from what I can tell.

      2)Hmmm... more people have told me the fight is easy than hard. For instance out of 20 or so people 2 people have found this fight hard. Out of those 2, it seems you're the only who couldn't get past her.

      Maybe, I'll have to seriously look into difficulty settings.

      3)Oh... Sorry. The adult stuff is hard to get right, since everyone has such different tastes. I like it though... Giantess stuff is really rare on the web too so I like the fact that we're being diverse and unique.

      4)I'll look into adding a difficulty setting. Or making the boss easier after losing to her 4 times or so.

    2. Music problem was solved by reunzipping the archive – so it works well now…

      But what about boss stuck problem? When I try to strafe left the Oak just stops her attacks and nothing happen next. Very annoying! And I still don’t know how long this fight proceeds…

      Can anyone upload the game progress file for me or make a video with a boss fight?

    3. You shouldn't even be able to go into the fire. Maybe you should redownload the game. You might've downloaded a glitched copy.

    4. Not sure if this is the case but, Oak can't be damaged if she has the secondary branch up, as then just the branch sways but she is not injured.

      Oak also isn't damaged by the fire, however she is vulnerable to Vom's hits at that moment. The trick I used is dodging the branch by ducking, then charge and hit her while the branch is on fire over your head (you don't have much time before she starts swinging the branch to put it out. You'll know the hits are registering when the mushroom girl starts throwing objects at you at the same time.

      Placement wise I stood in the middle between the fire and Oak. Dodging the roots required fast reactions as you have to move then duck or jump.

    5. Good guide CivilDeviation. Funny, nobody mentioned PlantGirl Leshy, the mushroom girl, until now.

      Anonymous, I think Oak needs 8-9 hits. I personally crouch all the time to avoid her attacks.

      I'm sorry you don't like the sex scene. Personally I think it's one of the best sex scenes of the game, because it contains 2 MoGi. Having 3 characters interact with each other was a very painful concept to animate. I'm quite proud of how it turned out to be... it took me several days to make it and the original animation had more than 100 layers!

      Your frustration for not beating the Oak Boss is understandable but this Boss fight has several unique features. We managed to add PlantGirl Leshy. Not only she is an extra MoGi for the game but this is actually a boss fight with 2 bosses. I think that is very rare in games. Also the sex scene has 2 MoGi in it. Try to enjoy it because I doubt there will be any other 3 way scenes...

      Also yeah, Giantess stuff are a rare fetish. Some like it, others don't. It is a fact that Oak is big and she needed to have a sex scene. If you don't like it that's fine, you are entitled to your opinion. But this is a boss fight and the sex scene had to be a bit brutal and fit Oak's character and body type and size.

    6. Concerning the Oak girl accidently crushing your character, isn't the suit specially made to absorb impact? I mean he can fall from huge heights and not get hurt, so why not being bounced on by a hot tree woman?

    7. While the story unfolds itself, some things will be answered and some ther things will be left to the imagination. Oak's sex scene doesn't really need explanation. It is what it is... videogame physics! It has to be this way for continuity purposes. If Voms gets crashed then how he can carry on the adventure?

      Your explanation about the suit is a great one and I love it! The excuse I had in my head until now what that Oak wants his sperm, so she knows where to stop her thrusts before crushing him.

      We try to make a game that is kinda serious but also fun. And since in games you die, we wanted to avoid death and violence as much as possible. This is also an ero-game and gore can be quite the turn off for the majority of the players. We are not going for full realism here, the game has it's own style. Treat the Oak sex scene with a bit of poetic license if it makes you feel better.

    3. Neko has this little extra loop animation where she licks herself. This was an extra animation meant as fanservice and also to thank Dorago for his awesome support, since Neko sex scene was his pledge. These extra animations are kind of a luxury but if we have time and inspiration to add more like this one to any future MoGi, we will.

      All the other MoGi sex scenes so far end in a static image. I think those scenes show some personality too... We will take your idea under consideration :)

    4. Well they do show some bits of personality (The Pumpkin and Aramita, I think? Really enjoy Voms' orgasm that's for sure), but I guess Neko just shows particularly a lot with that little licking loop.

      And thanks! I know it's asking a lot, particularly because "dialogue" during the rape, or a "game over" sequence is a bit much for the project as I recall.

    7. Some MoGi can't talk, some can. This is a bit vague at the moment. I'd like Oak to talk like "Me Tarzan. You Jane" or maybe Leshy do the talking. But we decided to have her speak fluently so that a little bit more personality is revealed by both Oak and Voms.

  24. It's rather simple I've only lost the fight once, simply because I did it wrong. All you do is Move left Right, keep eyes on her movement and sound. If she pulls her arms up the Root will come to smack you so move whatever direction you were and Crouch. if her bit of leafs/hair is pulled back which means within a few seconds you'll be struck walk up to her about hit distance and Crouch down once her branch is on fire just whack her once and Repeat process. This same will apply when the mushroom girl starts throwing keep moving left right while keeping eyes on the mushy girl if she moves you jump if she didn't move it either means root or her giving you a opening to hit her. just dont stand up after her leaf catches fire cause for some reason you'll still take damage

    I accidentally deleted my progress in-game by making a little mistake.
    You really should add verification question like: "Do you really want to delete all your progress?"
    Other people will eventually make this mistake as well.

    Same goes with "Delete data" and more importantly "Esc" key.
    I was playing and somebody was calling me so as an "old" gamer I instinctively pushed "Esc" to pause but it kicked me to the menu instead without asking and so all my progress since last save point was gone. (I know that "Enter" is pause but you really ought to change that)
    I'm pretty sure you would implement it eventually but sooner the better.

  29. Hey all! I was away for a few days, taking a small break. This update was awesome but I needed a few days off, to rest. I want to publicly thank Titan for releasing this update without much of my support and for being able to fix all these early bugs in such a short notice! Also I want to thank everyone else around here for being so supportive and helping with the game!

    The following days me and Titan we will work on the next small but also very crucial update. It won't have new levels, but the update after that will most likely be another huge update, where a new level will be introduced, the city! That's the plan for now, so don't start lighting any torches to burn us if some of these plans change. After all, every change is a step towards a better game!

    I need to go back up there now and reply some of the older messages :P

  31. Maybe I suck monkey shit at this game, but Oak wasn't what I'd call easy. Wish her animation would have been something a bit more... Boss-like... but I can't complain. Succubus better use her breasts. Iron's animation was just an old Ucogi animation from that Sucker's Suck game.

    1. Everyone's expectations are different I suppose. I'm not sure what you mean by saying "her animation should be more boss like". Her in-game animation has a lot of frames, moves and poses - We wanted her to have a few cool poses when she moves her arms. Her sex animation was also a bit over the top since she is a giant and since this is a 3-way sex scene. If you could describe what you think would have been more "Boss-like" we may try to apply your input in the next bosses. Any suggestions are always welcome.

      You are the first to comment on Iron's animation and yes you are right it was based on SuckerSuck. The Hostage Rape pose description was similar but it's not completely the same animation. Legs and hands are repositioned, the guy and the girl's clothes are re-made, there's also a new cum scene, and of course the hair and shading are all new. Dorago pledged for her and he was fine with the final result because I ran her design by him. Let's not forget that we also have Orange's HR which was something completely extra, a bonus addition that wasn't supposed to be in the game. So, by using an old animation of mine as a base for Iron, also saved us time to add one more MoGi to the game.

      I'm not sure how Succubus should use her breasts. Again, do you mean during her attack as a boss or in the sex scene? Because the sex scene was pledged by someone and it's not paizuri. Like I said, we are open to suggestions.

    2. Yeah, opinions differ on how scenes and bosses play out. I really liked Oak because she was slow, powerful, and otherwise stationary which seemed to fit with the tree bit. I also enjoyed the giant sex scene as it is rare and fun. Reminiscent of "death by snu-snu" from Futureama.

      As for future bosses, I hope that they continue to be personality oriented. That said, I do hope there is a Vom's boss battle that incorporates platform jumping with large boss attacks or environmental dangers.

      As for the Succubus, well I didn't make the pledge so I have no say but I hope it is some form of woman on top straight sex domination, kinda traditional, but a sexy cornerstone for these types of games imo.

      Whatever the case, it is clear that Titan and Victor are dedicated to making this a quality game. Great job you two!

    got the beta today and made it as far as the part where nekos is behind these two REALLY tall metal crates and i cant climb them because they are too tall....did i do something wrong?

    i pass two tractors on the way to this place, cant seem to move or start them either...thanks for any help.

  36. im so confused. the tractors cant be moved, but they are no where near the crates i referred to.

    and now as im playing through this i decided to go another direction, i just need to find the bosses now i think.

      I'm not sure where you are stuck but I think it's probably one of those areas where you need to go the other way around.

  41. I have one or two suggestions for making the game superbly awesome. But take them with a pinch of salt as It'll probably be more work and i have not donated past getting the beta. So it's up to you guys:
    1. Why don't we have mogi which do a sexy attack. That does regular damage on voms like example some kind of kiss drain (I'm thinking heavily on the succubus here xD) You may have some plans already in mind but if not it would be a very welcome addition to what is already there.
    2.With the boss fight rape scene to make it more boss like, make it more challenging to escape. Just like the idea of the boss' being far more capable than the regular mogi in most departments ;) My idea was like a time limit to escape from the boss, still have the mistakes cause voms to coming closer orgasm. But say he is just motionless and the player is not doing anything than say the 30 seconds the boss makes voms cum anyway. Just a way to make the game more challenging although the time limit in this case maybe generous. I realise this may ruin people's fap time and the mechanic would be difficult to implement now, so that's why i have opted for this to be boss fights only? rather than just the regular mogi.
    3. (and final) Can we have a stage selection mode for when the game is completed? And when the person obviously complete's the game. You then again maybe still planning this but just put it out there. Thanks!

Well, maybe you don't know, but voms will not be the only playable character, so you will have to make the game again with chibi Ucogi, maid Ucogi, ninja Ucogi, Alice, Rudy and Vor, they will all start from different place and clear the game in a different way, some places will be reachable only by certain character and the story line of each character is supposed to join near the end, so there is a lot of play to do ^^ but I remember one of the streach goal was to be able to have some kind of tunels to easly reach each lvl, but I guess it will only be usable after you end the game, not sure how Veins and Titan intend to make that happen

    2. All these are good ideas and it makes me very happy that you guys are brainstorming to make this a better game! This is really inspiring!

      Of course I need to consult with Titan about all that but I can see a few problems with some of these suggestions:

      1) We already planned how each MoGi will attack and sexy attacks were hard to implement and they mostly seem unrealistic. A kiss sounds like a grabbing attack and grabs are hard to program.

      2) There was a lot of discussion about the sex scene mini game and although it appeals to me for a boss to have a new mini game, I don't think it would fit. We tried like 4-5 mini game ideas and none of them fit well. Besides, making the game harder will only make some people complain, so we will probably leave the mini game as it is because it works well.

      3) I don't think there would be a stage selection but I think it would be fair to be able to travel back to all previous areas and perhaps fight the bosses somehow.

    3. I consulted with Titan about the Boss replays. We decided not to have Boss replays during the game because there will be a Bosh Rush mode. I'm not sure if we change our mind on this, but right now that's the most probable scenario.

      You know, I always felt bad in Zelda games when I couldn't play against the bosses again. A Boss Rush mode doesn't have the same feel as playing in the game itself, but it's close enough.

    4. Ah thanks for explaining. the likelihood of these being taken on board was slim in my view. But the compromise of a boss rush mode sounds good, so how many bosses are going to be in this game then?

    5. In Voms game there would be 5 or 6 bosses. It is too early to comment about the bosses of any of the other characters. I think that each playable character would have their own boss rush mode because some bosses might be the same and some bosses might be new ones, depending on each char. I recon that each char would have 3 to 5 bosses.

  44. I really liked the boss fight, I haven't gotten much further because I forgot to go back and save afterward(Oops!), but it was really well-balanced. However, I would like the ability to retry the boss fights if I die or an ability to skip already-seen dialog. Nothing drags a boss fight down more than having to sit through the cutscene you *just* saw ten times because you died again

Thank you so much for the work you have done so far, the game is coming along well and seems so smooth as balanced, the plot I really like, I played until the end of the beta with much pleasure and with great curiosity; Boss Aok I liked me a lot, both in his animations for the background texture, not bad idea and can not wait to see the evolution of the story and new enemies, bosses and attacks.

    Happy to have seen a bit of healthy facesitting, variety is important and makes the game even more curious.

    WARNING: I wanted to inform you of a curious bug that happened yesterday against Aok: accidentally pressing the numeric keypad in some combination in case I saw my character overcome the boss as if I had beaten but the music was still the boss and yet I could still go ahead in the game until the end of the beta.
